FAQs

About Our Hair Systems

What is the real hair system?

Our hair replacement system is a painless, non-surgical alternative to hair loss. It’s made with high quality real hair which is attached to an extremely thin and flexible base which is semi-permanently bonded to your head for up to three months and blended into your existing natural hair.

It looks and feels like your natural hair, doesn’t move or itch and can be washed and styled in the same way as your natural hair. Our clients tell us that they look years younger and that no one knows that they have a hair system fitted.

How does it work?

It’s simple, effective and pain free. We will prepare the area, apply the system using a medical grade bond, style it and you’re good to go! Find out more.

Why choose a hair system over a transplant?

Hair transplants have been around for a long time, but they do come with some major risks. There are the obvious risks that go with any surgical procedure including scarring, and hair transplants can be rejected, leaving you with hair loss and out of pocket.

With a hair transplant you’ll only achieve about 50% density, meaning that your hair will look thinner than it was previously, and hair can continue to be lost in many cases after the transplant.

Our hair replacement system gives you a much more natural, thicker density of hair and is both harmless and painless. You’ll have a natural and healthy-looking head of hair with no recovery time – application and styling only take a few hours and you’re then free to get back to living your life.

Can it fall off?

No. The bond we use is strong and long lasting. You can maintain an active lifestyle while wearing the system – during testing we even went paragliding!

Will it match my existing hair colour?

Yes. All our systems are bespoke and made to match your existing hair colour. Our expert team will match your hair colour during your free, no obligation consultation.

What does it feel like?

Just like having normal hair – the micro thin base of the hair system means you’ll still be able to feel and see your scalp.

How long will the system last?

Our system is designed to last for two months, but many of our clients find that theirs are fine for three depending on their lifestyle.

You can continue an active lifestyle, but certain styling products and activities (such as contact sports) can shorten the life span of the system. Our team will provide you with advice on how to look after your system for the best results, and we have a range of products such as shampoo and conditioner that have been designed to work with our systems.

Find out more about our system here.

Do I need to be completely bald?

No, our system is suitable for both partial and full hair loss. Come in for a free, no obligation consultation or get in touch with our expert team if you have any questions.

Can I have any hairstyle?

Yes! Get inspired! Comb it, style it, spike it – whatever takes your fancy. Our prices include styling, and our team of experts will work with you and create the style that you want. The hair on your system is long when applied so you’re not limited to short styles either.

How does the product stay on?

The hair system is attached to your head with a long-lasting medical grade bond, which is dermatologically tested, non-toxic, and non-allergenic. We never test on animals.

The bond will hold the hair system on your head for the full length of time that you have it – Once the hair system is attached it stays on and doesn’t need to be removed until it’s time for a new one.

Is it real hair?

Yes. Unlike some other systems all of our systems made with 100% high quality human hair which is colour matched to your natural hair.

Does it hurt?

No, not at all. The process is 100% safe and pain free, and a number of our clients say that it is relaxing. Once the system has been fitted you’ll hardly notice it as it feels like having natural hair again.

Does it stay on all the time?

Yes. We have replaced your hair, and you don’t take that off at night!

The bond will hold the hair system on your head for the full length of time that you have it – Once the hair system is attached it stays on and doesn’t need to be removed until it’s time for a new one.

Does it work for everybody?

In most cases, yes. We will give you an honest appraisal at your free consultation and if we feel it won’t be suitable for you we will tell you.

How long does it take?

The whole process, including the preparation of your head and the application, cutting and styling of your system takes approximately three hours.

I have sensitive skin, is it suitable for me?

It should be. We do a skin patch test before application and have never had anyone have a reaction before. The medical grade bond we use is hypo-allergenic and dermatologically tested.

Is it suitable for women too?

It will be. We’re working on a version of our system that is specifically designed for women and hope to launch this soon. If you’d like us to keep you in the loop, please get in touch.

About Us, Prices and Billing

We are also planning our first London location in the near future. Get in touch to register your interest.

How much does the system cost?

Our system is available ‘pay as you go’ where you pay per system as you require it, or on a pay monthly basis with the Real Deal. The Real Deal allows you to spread the cost of your systems and enjoy exclusive extras and discounts, but we don’t lock you into a contract.

The Real Deal is £199 per month and includes a new system every two months and an annual saving of over £600, or if you prefer to pay as you go it’s £489 per system. Visit our pricing page for more information and what’s included.

Can I pay monthly?

You can pay monthly, but there is no long-term contract and you can give 30 days notice at any time.  Our Real Deal offers a handy way to pay monthly for your systems for £199 per month.

You’ll receive a new system every two months, saving over £600 a year, as well as priority appointments, your personal bespoke replacement system held in stock for you, an exclusive product pack worth £149, and 20% off products and hair styling for you and three friends or family members at The Real Hair Co. or Alchemy Creative Collective.

We’ll take payment each month, and if you decide you don’t want to continue all we need is 30 days notice. Find out more about the Real Deal here.

How does your money back guarantee work?

We want you to be completely happy with your hair system, so for your peace of mind we offer a no quibble moneyback guarantee. If you are unhappy with your system at any time then get in touch and we’ll work with you until you are totally happy, or offer you a full refund within the first seven days.

Is there a service or any extra charges?

No. We believe in being transparent about our pricing, with no hidden extras, so unlike other companies we do not charge an additional service or stylist fee – what you see is what you pay.

The only additional price you may pay is if you choose to buy hair care products from us, or book a maintenance session, but these are entirely optional (Those on the Real Deal get 25% off products and maintenance appointments).

About Having a Hair System

Can I use hair-dryers and products?

Yes. You can treat and style your hair system just as you would treat normal hair.

We recommend allowing your hair to dry naturally, but you can use a hair-dryer on a low heat if you prefer.

We have a range of hair products that have been specifically designed to work with and nourish your hair system so we would recommend using them to help your hair system last as long as possible.

Do I have to use special hair care products?

We recommend that you use our products. That’s not us going in for the hard sell, – we offer these products because they are specifically designed to work with our hair replacement systems.

You can use other products if you like, but they may reduce the lifespan of your hair system due to the chemicals and other ingredients that they may contain.

Do I need to have a maintenance session?

We do offer maintenance sessions, but they’re completely optional. Some of our clients find they don’t need them at all, while others do. A maintenance session includes the removal of your system, cleaning and preparation of your head, the reapplication of your system, and a hair trim and style.

Our team will discuss maintenance sessions with you during your free consultation.

Can I still go to the gym or play sports?

Yes, you can maintain an active lifestyle when wearing your hair system. Depending on what you do (contact sports for instance) your hair system may require additional maintenance.

Our team will be happy to discuss this with you at your free consultation.

Can I shower or swim with the hair system?

Yes, our systems are designed to be exposed to water without any problems. Our team will be happy to talk this through with you and to give you advice on looking after your hair system.
